    Early Case Assessment

Build a cited chronology and an Early Case Assessment report from a matter document set.

From document pile to early clarity

Every complex case starts the same way: a stack of documents and no clear picture. The skill gives you the facts, the conflicts, and the gaps before you commit resources.

See the record, not the pile

Every material fact, date, party, and amount is extracted and tied to a source document and location. No fact without a citation.

Know what the record does not answer

The gaps list names exactly what is missing from the record, with what to collect next. You find out before it becomes a problem in review.

    Step in ready to lead

Walk into the intake or status meeting with the chronology, the issue map, and the gaps list. The client sees what you know and what you are going to collect.

What the skill does for you

Four stages, one run. The same rhythm, every matter, every time.

    1. 1

      Scope the set

      Inventory before you extract

      • Every file is inventoried: kind, author, date range
      • Unreadable or non matter files go to an Exceptions sheet, never guessed at
      • The matter brief sets your side and the scope of the review

The outcome: A clean, defensible scope for the review, established in minutes.

    2. 2

      Extract and cite

Every fact tied to its source

      • Every material fact, date, party, amount, and key quote is extracted
      • Conflicting statements are kept as separate facts and logged as contradictions
      • Each fact carries a working helpful, harmful, or neutral flag from your side

The outcome: A fact base where every row can be traced back to a document in the record.

    3. 3

      Build the chronology

      A living timeline

      • Facts are deduplicated, dated, and sorted into a cited XLSX workbook
      • Flag color coding shows helpful, harmful, and neutral at a glance
      • When new documents arrive, re run and the chronology updates

The outcome: A cited chronology that stays current for the life of the matter.

    4. 4

Map the issues and write the report

From facts to a working brief

      • Facts are clustered into issue areas with a neutral summary of what the record shows
      • Contradictions are reported with both sides cited, never resolved
      • The ECA report is generated from the same fact base, so they never disagree

The outcome: A draft for attorney review that tells you what is known, what is contested, and what is missing.

All four matters in the ECA playbook (commercial, employment, product liability, data breach) were run through the same skill with no configuration changes. Only the matter brief changed.

    Built to be defensible

    Runs on your infrastructure

The skill operates on your own Pokee deployment, including fully offline or air gapped environments. Matter data does not leave your control.

    Every fact is cited

Every chronology row and every report statement points to a source document and location. If a fact cannot be cited, it is not in the output.

    No legal conclusions

Outputs are labeled draft for attorney review. Flags are working drafts, not opinions. Suspected privileged documents are flagged and excluded, never classified.

See your first chronology in minutes

Run the skill on one real matter of your choosing, with your own documents, on your own infrastructure. We will show you the cited output in a 30 minute walkthrough.
